Need help with Eastwood Hotcoat system
Have used the powercoating system from Eastwood a few times but have a problem. Can't get the air pressure right. It is either too high and blows the powder off the piece or too low to expel any powder. I have a large shop compressor that I have been trying to reduce down with a regulator. It builds pressure and when I pull the trigger I get an initial blast that is too strong and then nothing. I have to keep pulling the trigger at short intervals to get some puffs of powder to be expelled. Takes way too long and wastes a lot of powder. Have any of you guys solved this problem? Any suggestions greatly appreciated.

I dont have a powder coater but you might try a new and better regulator, but I know on some of my air equipment I put a air squeeze in line to fine tune the air flow.

On mine I use two regulator's. The first one is a large unit I picked up from a local industrial air compressor shop. I use this one for the major adjustments. Then I have small regulator mounted right by the gun that I use to fine tune the pressure. This setup has worked perfectly for me.

Another thing to keep in mind is the air needs to be dry, if you've got mosture in the air it's going to cause problems somewhat similar to what your describing. Damp air will cause surging and powder delivery problems.
