Brakes Again
Brake pedal on my 72 goes about half way to floor then feels solid but dosen't hardly stop the P/U at all.Almost feels like only the back drums are working.I have installed new rotors and calipers from CPP and a new master cylinder and booster from NAPA.It was doing this before I replaced these parts and have blead the brakes numerous times and I tried a new master cylinder that I bench blead before installing but it is still the same.I disconnected the the booster and plugged it to see if it made a difference and I had even less brakes so I assumed the booster isn't the problem.Suggestions would be appreciated.
Thanks,Kirk |

Re: Brakes Again
sounds like you either don't have either front brake or either back brake like you were thinking. Does it pull to one side when it brakes? You might want to bleed each brake at the wheel itself if you have not done this (have a partner to see if there is actually fluid flowing). You might have a block in one of your brake lines.

Re: Brakes Again
I've done each wheel and fluid flows with no bubbles.

Re: Brakes Again
is the prop valve old? is the brake light connected to the valve? Probably not the source since you have flow at all wheels, but just a thought.
have you checked what kind of shape the drum brakes are in? When my drums weren't working, my truck did the exact same thing, pedal half-travelled to the floor then catch on the front discs. The braking was significantly weaker than when I had both brakes. Sounds like you've just about changed everything else out |

Re: Brakes Again
I think it is the original proportioning valve. That was going to be my next move along with the inspection of the rear drums.
