49 Chevy Heater?

Has anybody ever seen another heater like this? Was hooked up in my 49 when we got it. Never seen another like it. Just wondering if anybody knows what its out of.

Well, it should be GM but I've never seen one like it. If that is a model number on the Harrison tag you might be able to track it down that way.

I've got AD deluxe heaters, standard heaters and one after market heater that is more of a box with a heater core and fan in the various trucks and cabs that I have. Along with a couple of box style heaters that I picked up at swap meets and Ebay.

Re: 49 Chevy Heater?

One is the standard heater and the other is the fresh air heater if you had the standard heater there was a delete plate on the kick panel to cover up the hole for the fresh air heater...My 49 has that same standard heater

Re: 49 Chevy Heater?

Realize that none of those models came with heaters. They were an option along with many other things. There were several companies that made after market parts. I have seen several different style heaters made for these cars and tucks. I have one for sell that was on my truck when I bought it last year in Feb. It is brand new and looks similar to D-Mans. It is black. If someone is interested send me a private message with you email address and I will send pictures and a price. His and mine are side mounts that used the side louver vent to access an air flow. Some are front mounts and look different. Since I am going to installa Vintage Air System I no longer need it and will also cut out the louver vent and cover the hole with sheet metal and weld it in. That area will just become a moisture trap iof I don't. Some people who want to keep the complete stock look will go inside and weld a SS sheet plate over the hole.
