1959 impala 4 door conversion to a 2 door
I have 2 59' chevys and one is a Biscayne 2 door post that is rotten beyond repair and the other is a 4 door Impala in great shape. I know that 4 door conversions have been done to 55' to 57' cars but can it be done to a 59' Impala. All the overall measurements are the same but just different size doors and placement of the posts. Want to find out if it has ever been done to that year and how successful it was before i dump any money into either.

I have not seen it done but can't imagine why you couldn't do it just like they do the tri-5's. I'd go for it.

I do believe there is a few threads about this on the hamb.com.My only concern about it would be the title and insurance issues that could come up!

I would be switching the vins as well and converting the impala into a biscayne trim package so there would be no way of knowing it was a 4 door.

Thats a good ideal.I think swapping vins could be illegal!

Re: 1959 impala 4 door conversion to a 2 door
Oh absolutely its illegal but I have no Intensions of selling my dream car with a 409 and if I did the new owner would have a full portfolio of what happend to the car and why. And there will be nothing left of the 2 door donor car that would be crushed. And the DMV could never prove that a fully restored biscayne was in fact a 4 door impala unless I missed a body vin in the resto process.
