Adjusting the power assist Q.
I know on the power steering pumps, there is supposed to be a spring or something that controls how much assist you get, can anyone tell me where to find it, and if it is feesable to chainge?
I have a feelign the pump on the Caddy motor is going to be way too much power assist. I liek my wheel to be firm with good road feel through the wheel. Any one with info on this? |

Pretty sure the amount of power assist comes from how the box is set up not from the pump.

Andy, I ran both caddy & olds in my longhorn , & didnt notice any problems with steering feel. Both setups had the pumps that came with the engines. if you remove the big nut on the back of the pump(that the pressure hose screws into), there is a spring behind it.......I havent experimented with the spring, so I cant really say how it would affect the system. Good luck, crazyL

Cool, didn't even knoe where to look.
I have read somwhere that there is a pring that controls out put pressure, and the one you are talking about sounds liek it would be the one. i don't even like the amount of assist these trucks came with...I like the wheel to be firm, but not too heavy. |
