You know how not too long ago I said I was going to take the catalyist from the catalatic converter out to get better flow? I don't have to any more. My truck beat me to it. When it is running little white pebbles fling out from the exhaust pipe. So my cat. is bad. Yay.

That is probably why I got such a horsepower boost when I sawed the muffler off. The catalyist was plugging it up! That is why it rattles . . .

I'm hoping I can do all the oil pump and bearings check tomorrow in a hour or two. Might be too much to ask? The pan comes right off on a 2wd - no jacking or loosening of motor mount bolts right?

This really irks me: I got a new oil pump and the guy said the gasket should be there. It wasn't. So I ordered on and they gave me something completly different! We opened up another box, & it didn't have on either. They don't have a listing of the oil pump gasket at all! Kragens finally just gave me gasket paper and said to make your own. WTH is going on here?

Tyler,
If your truck is high enough (I have my 2wd on 32" tires, and I was also up on ramps) you can do it really easy. The front oil pan bolts will be kinda tricky (if yours is like mine, the tranny cooler lines were bolted to a bracket, bolted on with the oil pan bolts, made for a boring few minutes) Prepare to get REALLY oily, first off (No matter how much oil you drained out of your pan, your rotating assembly is still COVERED in oil, that's just WAITING to drip on you.)
As for that Oil Pump gasket...when I took my oil pump off, I just reused the original gasket (came off perfectly)
Good luck with your findings, hopefully you don't find what I found. (But of course, I had a LOUD knock

)

ive never bought a oil pump that doesnt include the gasket in the kit sounds like theyre using a cheap manufacturer OR remanufacturer Hell any part that requires a gasket should come wiht it in the box thermostat, water pump. etc etc Hell even when i buy valve covers theyve come with a set of gaskets

Ive never had an oil pump gasket. Mine works fine without it... I do remember asking about there being a gasket to and all the different ones didn't have any gaskets.

I asked my auto shop teahcer and he said it doesn't have a gasket. I guess I'll see tomorrow when I take it off! I'm doing this in auto shop & leaving it there for a couple days, so it will be no problem!

Muffler bearings? they're in Aisle 4. Located between tail light fluid (keeps 'em red) and the Piston Return Springs....

The oil pump doesn't have a gasket. Mounts right to the block and with only one bolt, go figure.

Blinker Fluid!!! Sorry - in joke - we told a kid to go get us some blinker fluid and he finally realized yesterday (told him 3 months ago) that there is no such thing. Trick him one shame on me. Trick him twice shame on him. Trick him more than one and he is a dumbass!
