Re: I see some old school chevy in this add
How realistic!...NOT! Entertaining, though. The longest lasting trucks on the road are the old GMs not shown in the ad. I think Chevy could have showed more class by leaving at "He wasn't driving one of the longest lasting trucks on the road". I didn't see a 67-72. Maybe this belongs in the new truck message board?

Re: I see some old school chevy in this add
Are you sure about the longest lasting trucks on the road being old school? Just for kicks, my old longhorn came in with 140-150000 miles on the clock(still running, but damn tired)! I just picked up a 10 yr old silverado, with 165,000 on the clock.....she will no doubt "eat" a trans in the next 30-40,000 miles, but that little 4.8 vortec will probably stand 300,000 miles stong crazyL

Re: I see some old school chevy in this add
I've never quite figured out how they define "longest lasting"? Are they looking at consecutive years of registration? Volume of units entering the scrap yards? Or number of folks going out and buying new piles of crap to replace their busted up old piles of crap?
Nonetheless, I would agree that modern powertrains are much more reliable then vintage ones, but the chassis and bodywork they are bolted into is rubbish.

That's a mid-70s square body, the longest lasting truck in the ad.

Re: I see some old school chevy in this add
My point is none of the newer stuff has lasted longer than the old stuff that's still on the road. Nothing 10 or less years old has lasted 40 or more years. Only one truck shown in the ad was even close to as old as a 67-72...the trucks this message board is for.

Re: I see some old school chevy in this add
Nothing last long. Unless you take care of it and do the regular checkups. Alot of people drive like there ain't no tomorrow. I got a 67 chevy c10 longbed with a rebuilt 77 gm sbc 350 and th-350 that too is rebuilt not sure what year the trans is. Hopefully it last good the way I will drive it on highways 65-70mph. Oh and keeping the rear end stock and drums all around.

Re: I see some old school chevy in this add
I think Ford's main reason for being upset here...although they wouldn't admit it...is that the ad is so good and will be remembered, and that they didn't do itb first.
