Vent window question

the vent window on my 63 chevy truck is loose and wont stay open, and i was wondering if there was a way to tighten it back up. any help is appreciated

Remove the door panel, look in there and see if you can reach the adjusting nut at the bottom of the mount post, The used a winged washer, it has two ears on it you'll need to bend out of the way to get your socket on it. PITA with out removing the wholw assembly.

Of course it a PITA to removed the whole assembly too, so we're messed up both ways - go figure

Funny I just had to replace the rubber and felts and one side of glass. Not hard to do but again the LMC rivits sucked, way too long the tool is made out of something so soft that even a brass hammer mushroomed the tool into a mess. If I had to do it over I would have used urathane to attach the inner sealing rubber, I did rivit one side and used pop rivits on the other for the outer glass frame. Worked great, the LMC sash kit is a waste of time, it has no holes in it , nor does it have the counter sunk areas for the rivits to go into, and they have velcro ( fuzzy side) shoved into the un drilled channel.

That's why I want to take the wing windows out and put in one oiece electric windows.

Just need to save about a grand b4 I can have it done.

I haven't done it yet but I've researched it. I manage an airport with a very active experimental aircraft association. Those guys press rivets all day long and have the right tools for the job. I've had a couple of my tenants look at them and they say those rivets are cake with the proper tooling.

If you live close to an airport, remove the assembly and go talk to one of those guys. They love doing stuff like that.

You are correct I have tons of gear for buc rivits but not for these steel center versions. Really steel pop rivits will hold even better than the rivits, and there is enough room in them for the window to slide up and down. I just put mine together and they work fine one side has has pop and the other the peen over style. The rivits that came in the kit where way too long, I had to shorten them a bit. Just a case of a company selling a one size fits all part.
