Anyone that's installed bedwood

I need some tips or tricks. I just got my bed back from the body shop yesterday and I was test fitting the wood today, but for the life of me, I can't the the side boards to slide under the angle strips - any help would be appreciated.

Thanks for the help - I ended up sanding it down a little. Have to tighten everything up, but Im just about done.

Re: Anyone that's installed bedwood

Maybe try and loosen the cross supports so they drop down a little. Mine sets right on top of the wood I made my wood bed at at 13/16 thick. Your bed looks fanfriggintastic! please put some bracing on your bed stand so it doesn't fold like a deck of cards. That would be just terrible. cheers, Pat

Re: Anyone that's installed bedwood

What additional bracing do you think I need - Ive got some two support boards in the center that you can't see in the picture and everything is screwed together on top and sides with 3 in screws. It is very sturdy, but you have me thinking it may fall over now.

Re: Anyone that's installed bedwood

The body paint color is Mercedes Silver (I think it's called iridium - or something like that). For the bed wood, I primed it with some left over Por15 that I had and then painted it with Behr Premium Plus Ultra from Home Depot (satin finish). The black was a Disney black color - don't remember the specific name though. It's an oak wood kit from Mar K with polished stainless strips.
