1964 Chevy LB PU. Whats it worth?
My neighbor has had this in his front yard for ever and I never cared much for it but my 16 year old wants it and wants to murder it or black it out and drop it.
283 real clean with power glide tranny, needs a starter, left front fender has a wrinkle and rust. Original blue and white and all molding is super straight. Bumpers and grill are nice and so is interior..$ 500.00 to $1000.00 ??? Needs wiring or the painless wiring kit. |

I gave $300 for one just about like that around a year ago & drove it home.
It was a 283/3 speed man LWB but didn't have the rust in the fenders. |

Offer $500.00 and see where he goes.If this is a first vehicle it will probably get a bit of a workout. You may want to upgrade brakes and ad PB<PS for safety.I don't think it's worth over about a grand though.Wiring is a PIA and some safety stuff will need to be adressed for a youngster to drive it so offeer accordingly.

Dont let him 'screw' with it for at least 2 years get it on the road and leave it alone.
If he spray paints it or something stupid permanent he will regret it later..

Re: 1964 Chevy LB PU. Whats it worth?
Speaking as someone who still owns his first vehicle, one that I modified, un-modified, wrecked, fixed, wrecked, fixed and modified and am currently performing a complete rebuild on. Playing with my first truck is what led me to this place. I wouldn't change anything that I have done to it in the last 20yrs. If he gets the truck, I would guide him in order to keep the truck operating safely and let him have some fun. It's just an old Chevy truck, but something that could possibly lead to a lifetime of enjoyment. They are all memories. In an age where most driver age kids would rather drive a rice burner or play video games, I would do anything to encourage wrenching on a classic. Even if it isn't always a positive effect on the truck. Just my .2cents.

Wiring? Rust? Aside from those issues, I'd say a grand is a good deal. It's a big window, V8, auto, with a straight body and good interior? Where do you guys figure you can get a truck like that for under a thou? Let your kid have at it, as long as he agrees to complete whatever he starts. Start small at first, then let the projects grow with his knowledge. The boy will learn more about himself than the truck. good luck.

Re: 1964 Chevy LB PU. Whats it worth?
We may have reached a agreement where my kid works 1 day a weekend for 5 weeks like 8 hours at a time doing yard work. He is a cool old guy and just wants help around his house from time to time. I fixed up his Granddaughters Schwinn today.
