RARE 1963-66 FACTORY V8 Overdrive rear end w/ trailing arms
Up for grabs to whoever is willing to drive to North East Alabama and get it is a super rare 63-66 rear end w/ trailing arms and springs out from under a running and driving 1965 Chevrolet C-10 pickup that was ordered from the factory with a 283 V8 and a factory 3 speed overdrive transmission. We drove this truck out from my buddy's driveway and he dumped the clutch and stomped the gas (like an idiot) and it took off like a race car and left two strong black marks on the street in front of his house - we were impressed anyway. It is not a positraction, but we think it might be a special kind of rear end that was used in overdrive trucks a lot called a "No Spin"....a no spin was another flavor of positraction that allowed the 2nd wheel to catch whenever the main drive wheel slipped so it acts like a posi....no way to be sure, and I am not going to monkey around with it to try and find out, but it ran beautifully and quiet as a mouse, and didn't leak anywhere and it allowed us to run as fast as 70-80 MPH no problem, so I am thinking its a 3:73 (or maybe even a 3:08) gear set most likely since that was most common in V8 equipped trucks.
Anyway, I have been saving it for some un-identified future project that may never materialize, so if someone is willing to drive here and get it or arrange a shipper it can be yours for the low price of only 150.00 FIRM. Let me know if interested - I would also consider trades of 55-59 truck parts or 60-61 Apache truck parts - otherwise its not eating anything and it can stay right where it is....Thanks for looking |

Early model 64 ha that style also. My early 64 rear has the no-spin feature also and 3.73. Came in a factory 6/glide truck.

That rear end is a '64 model. The '63 12 bolts also had that style of panhard bar and mount, but they had pressed on backing plates. The '60-'62 truck rear ends also had that style of panhard bar and mount, but they were not 12 bolts, and the panhard bar is longer.

It's good you still have it.
Some people will still steal steel no matter how heavy it is. Posted via Mobile Device
