I've got an 83 2wd 1-ton. We use it to haul our camper. I'll get some pics tomorrow.

When I was in the Army we still had those around and even a few new H1s. I still would rather have the Chevy trucks/Blazers than an H1.

Re: Any SRW 1 Ton 4x4 guys here?? Pictures??

I never see Russ on here any more.I see he's on CK5 a good bit. I had an '84 K/30 20 or so years ago and sure would like to have another. I have a set of axles handy. I'd like to do what my good friend did with an '85 K1500 High Sierra he bought that was pretty clean. He rebuilt a Dana60 and 14-bolt,put a locker in and disc brakes on the rear,2' lift,285/75-16s on 7" Ford steelies,TH400/NP205,and winch. Now all he needs are 3500 emblems. The only thing I'll do different is I have the 4L80E from my '91 Suburban.
I have an '85 Jimmy I put 3/4t axles in and it was a cinch. 1t axles would be just as easy. It worked out that I didn't have to touch the rear driveshaft because of the larger 14-bolt. I used a conversion u-joint at the rear. This is temporary with the plan being to shorten the Suburban driveshaft.

Re: Any SRW 1 Ton 4x4 guys here?? Pictures??

I have a 1987 V30 SRW 4x4. It has the T.B.I. 7.4L, TH400, NP205, 4.10 gears, and true dual 3" exhaust with flowmasters. Its up to 77,235 original miles. The paint is crappy as usual for those years, but there is no rust what so ever on the truck. The interior is a 7.75 out of 10. .

I've been working on something similar, 1 ton running gear under a 76 blazer. Life has been getting in the way lately but I've been stocking up on parts.

Hey Russ, hows it going? I wanted you to comment because you have done the 1 Ton thing under a Blazer.

Its been rough lately as we lost my father in law last month to cancer, the axle swap is straight forward and honestly not very hard. The only real issue you are going to run into is with the rear end. The spring perches are moved in a little on the 1 tons, the 3/4 ton 14 bolts have the same perch location as the 1/2 tons. My 1 ton swap in the blazer is not complete yet, but I did recently put 3/4 ton axles in my 77 shortbox.

Here's my 83 2wd. Future plans (very distant future for now) is to replace the 350 with a 6.2L diesel and then maybe make it 4x4.

Tell your wife sorry to hear about her father. I lost my Dad to cancer in 1995.
Its a tough one to swallow. Prayers inbound.
