Re: what did you get done 2/19/2012 edition
Installed New Smog (AIR) pump and all the hoses. (It looks very official now)
Swapped out my stand by 10-SI for reworked 94AMP 12-SI Alternator (one of the three rectifier diodes went out). Found out that Summit shipped out new Headman headers on Friday!! So all the plumbing work will have to be re-done once the new headers are installed. //RF

Tore my engine down. Removed alternator, power steering pump, water pump, intake, carb, dizzy, and here in a few minutes the heads are coming off. I have a set of 305 heads I'm putting on sometime this week, and Crane HMV-260-2 NC (.427 intake lift/.454 exhaust lift, 260 intake duration /272 exhaust duration) cam is going in too.

Put 2" drop shackles on my '79 only to get 1" of drop, then oiled hood hinges to get them freed up for new hood next weekend, only to find my water neck on intake cracked/leaks, installed new one.

Re: what did you get done 2/19/2012 edition
Finished painting body panels at last, tailgate and inside of driverside fender was the last. Now only the roll cage left to be painted. Started to re wire rear lights and hitch connector, my old harness is hacked but I managed to get it working so I at least know that I have power back there.
While I have the bed off I made new hangers for the exhaust, itīs now tucked up high so it wounīt get in the way once I flip the rear. But that will have to wait, only 2 weks left until I lose my workshop space, so itīs a rush againt the clock to tie everything up and get the truck back on the road.

Added a set of dual cb antennas on the big ol' trucker mirrors to go along with the vintage Cobra radio I have for the truck. True late 70's style.

Re: what did you get done 2/19/2012 edition
I got the headers & accessory brackets back from the p.coaters. Turned out nice for what I have into them. I started getting them back onto the motor today which led to a couple issues I'm working on now.
I seem to be missing some hardware for the belt tensioner so my buddy is going to see if he can get it through GM still. I also noticed on the replacement tensioner assembly that the bearing is made in China where the original GM part was made in USA. I purchased the top-of-the-line @ Oreillys (Gates) vs their house brand specifically to avoid the cheap China crap. I'm going to look up some bearing info tomorrow & might just swap out the bearings if my buddy @ the dealership strikes out.

Re: what did you get done 2/19/2012 edition
oh man, I've been bowed up like an anorexic sumo wrestler trying to make weight.
I had to work friday so saturday I got up early and cleaned up the shop after the engine tear down from my black crew cab. then I pulled my toyota pu in to see why It suddenly wants to run like crap, that was an easy diagnose timming chain wore through the water pump then I pulled the white 4wd crew cab in to see if I could fix the defrost and chase down some of the electrical demons. well once I pulled the dash out my defrost problem was very aparent! the air was being blocked by 3 or 6 dozon pens pencils straws and what ever else was under there ( the dash fits better now). I kinda aready had an idea what was going on with my lights and I was right the switch was bad. replaced it and a few dash lights. then crawled under it to see what all the wires were that hung down. I pulled a few rats nest of wire out along with some that ran the full lenght of the frame. I also found out its got helper bags that arn't bolted to the rear end and it has a goose neck hitch. then I made the call to pull the crappy tint off the back door windows. mistake!!! I ended up having to scrub all the scum film off the other windows and detailing the rest of the inside do to a lot of nicetine. then to day I took it easy with just changing the oil in it and fix a few little thing that botherd me. its fairly quiet now that most of the rattles are bolted or screwed back together

Re: what did you get done 2/19/2012 edition
I got drive my truck for the first time on public roads for the first time in over year, but ended up striping out all but one seat belt mounting nut, I forgot to strap my battery down and the + battery cable melted against the battery tray when I slammed on the brakes, shut the truck down completely for a couple of seconds the every thing powered back up and truck started right up no other damage found, and I had a small fuel leak found it was coming from the return line on the sender I found out I was using the incorrect flare got that fixed and went to put the lines back on and damaged the flare pieces for the feed line I'll re-flare the line, reinstall the tank, and repair the seat belt nuts and I'll be back in business

Trucks sat for 2 weeks while i went on a trip, got it out today and drove it around. I was missing it. It started right up and took off like when i drive it daily. I'm happy with that.

Swapped out 2" drop springs up front for 1" drop springs. Hope that helps with the rim grinding. Also replaced the front section of the e-brake cable.

Re: what did you get done 2/19/2012 edition
I got quite a bit done. Replaced the rear shoes, wheel cylinders, hardware and one e brake cable and one stud on our truck. Cleanded up the alt wireing and found out the alt was bad. So i replaced that and took wife and daughter for there first ride in the truck.

Re: what did you get done 2/19/2012 edition
Bolted my accessory bracket up to my Gen II LT1, installed the PS pump, alternator and AC delete pulley. Started the motor, belt stays on like it should. Only thing is my alternator is not charging. May be bad. Removed the old manual steering gearbox to make way for the new power steering unit that I am getting next weekend. Picked up my upper and lower control arms from the machine shop where they got new polyurethane bushings and ball joints. Primed and started to paint them. Bolted in my new B & M Megashifter. The PO on my truck installed a tranny mount Lokar 23" double bend shifter. Had to fab a cover plate out of aluminum to cover the hole he cut in the floor. Also installed a new windshield washer resevoir in my 04 Suburban.
