Been having some problems with my truck, I took the driver side hub off a few weeks ago looking for a problem, but it wasn't there. I left the hub off for a few weeks in the weather, now there's some leaves stuck to the end of the axle in the grease.

I wiped the end off and it looks pretty clean...can I just put my hub back on, or do you think I should re-grease the entire bearing?

Well it's not a bad idea is it? Just clean it out and repack

Long story but it's a job I really don't want to start right now if I don't have to. Too much other stuff going on...

I see that new wheel bearings are only about $15. Do I have anything more than that to lose?

other than the $15 the time and effort.

If you dont have time to do it right the first time, when will you have time to go back and redo it?

trash in the grease? no question it should be totally cleaned and repacked.

I'd much rather work on this thing in the summer. I just want to get it back on the road right now. I don't really have a good place to work on it nor do I have all the needed tools. (and wouldn't know what I was doing if I had them)

Let's just say I'm learing as I go with this truck, and I've had enough learning for now.

I just took the front drive shaft out because I didn't want to fix it right, right now....

your mind is made up what you want to do.. to do it right clean and repack and replace if bad if you want to do it halfway and wrong then just throw it together.. heck dont even bother to put in grease i mean heck youre only gonna take it apart again sooner or later forget trucks one of the best lessons you can learn in life is do it once correctly

since we're on the topic, how do you guys feel about those bearing packers that you just pump grease into with a grease gun? ehh, i've always done it by hand...

It can be done in less than an hour just pull the brake off and take out the rotors take the inner bearing races out and shove grease in all the rollers. Put it back together and torque the nut to 75ftlbs I think then turn the rotor a few times. Loosen it up and put the not on about finger snug. Put the pin in and fill the grease cap and hammer it on and your done

You can set my truck on fire and roll it down a hill, and I still wouldn't trade it for a Coupe de Ville.
