Wrecked TruckI
I just finished the total rebuild of front & rear susp, also lowered front and rear. Yesterday I took the truck to alignment shop, getting ready to drive over to Pigeon Forge for the show. On the way home a guy ran a red light and creamed the front end.
Couldn't drive it home so now it sits at the wrecker lot waiting for the insurance adjuster to look at it Monday. Talked to the body shop guy today and he says it'll probably be totaled. DR-67

DAMN! I hate to hear stories like this! Does it look like you can fix it? The insurance companys don't think these trucks are worth much. So even if they do total it, buy it back if you can fix it, and start the rebuild again! Sorry to hear this man.
Sam

sorry to hear your story. These guys are right, your insurance company will get off cheaper if they total it out. but you can buy it back cheap and use interior parts etc on your next trucks.
Look on the bright side, at least you get to have another project right away! david

Yeah, definitely buy it back...I know one guy who did this when his truck got rearended hard on an offramp (and he was under the hood at the time!!!!). For whatever reason, my other friend who wrecked his '69 decided not to buy his back, though...then again, I never saw how bad it was, so it might've been close to scrap.

Sorry to hear that. You really need to get these trucks insured for a fixed dollar amount if you are going to put much money in them. I have mine insured for 15 grand...good luck

This could be a blessing for you still. I read in magazines all the time about how some guy's truck has been wrecked in some way and he comes back 10 times harder than before, making it into a magazine feature. Take this mantra to heart and you will be OK. This incident took your truck for a while, but not your knowledge of building it back up. Keep the faith!

Huge bummer on that.
And they may have already started to screw you too. You should have had it towed to your place. |
