Has anyone used the LH8 pan in their swap?

Like teh title says, has anyone used the LH8 (GMPP Muscle Car swap oil pan) in their LS swap yet? I am getting ready to do a 5.3 swap in my '74, and do a sectioned crossmember at the same time. It is already low, so anyting to help with clearance would be great. I think the 2001 truck pan is going to be waaaay too low. Any thoughts?

I went ahead and bought it today. I work at a Chevrolet dealer, but we aren't a GMPP stocking dealer. It wasn't too far off of list, but it will be here tomorrow.

I used one on mine, but it's not in the truck yet so I don't know where it will sit.....but its prob 1 1/2" shorter than the truck pan...I think the f-body pans are lower still....

Hmmm, good to know... Is your dropmember the standard or extreme? I wonder if it would make a difference with the fitment

from the info i found, the lh8 pan is a hummer H2 pan. I saw a picture comparing the 2 and they are almost identical in size. If you are looking for clearance, look up a cadillac CTS-V pan. It is a few inches shorter at the crossmember.

I'm not really sure, there was only one when I bought mine lol. It is the 3.2.

If I remember correctly it stays above the Dropmember. I can look tomorrow after work to make sure.

You do realize the pan will sit at different levels based on the engine mounts used? It might be more helpful if people told you what mount setup they were using.

Good call. I am using the Dirty Dingo mounts. I was also concerned with the length of teh sump (the clearance behind the crossmember). The CTS-V pan has a longer (front to back) sump.

I used the GMPP pan as well, with I6 perches and mount adapters. It hangs right at the crossmember level in my 66. It actually looks like its a bit below, but with the suspension at full compression, the crossmember bottoms out before the pan does on something like a big dip in the road.

I talked to Brent at Dirty Dingo for a while yesterday. He recommends the F-body pan to ensure adequate clearance. Since I am planning on running a sectioned crossmember, I will need all the clearance I can get. The F-body pan looks to be a bit cheaper than the CTS-V pan also.

I bought a truck pan for mine, but it hung too low. I ended up going with an F-body pan, and I have much better clearance. Check out my engine swap thread titled "Project: LS1ick68".

I'm using Trans Dapt adapters with POL tubular engine towers.

I tried to take the pics from a couple different angles. I dont have drop spindles yet so the front isn't laying completely out. The LH8 pan is about 2 1/2 inches deeper than the F-body pan. At the most a tiny sliver of the pan and a small part of the oil plug boss hangs below the Dropmember.
