quick question - what master cyl do i need?

hey all

my brother in law is coming over this weekend to help with the disk swap on my 63. i have the entire setup from a 79 ill be swapping to. simple question - what master cyl do i need? 1 inch bore or 1 1/4 in bore (stock for the 63 was a 1 in bore). these are manual brakes not boosted or ower. disks in front / drums in back. according to autozone, rockauto, etc there masters from a 72 are diff from a 73 and up. but i am not sure if i need to match the master to the 63 since that is what its going in (stock pedals etc) but obv need the dual master for the front/rear brakes.

i THINK i need a 1 in bore dual master cylinder. tha seem right?

the smaller bore moves the fluid at a higher pressure so no larger than 1 inch bore,the 1 1/4 bore masters are generally for power assisted brakes just make sure you purchase a master cyl for manual brakes and you will be ok fyi i used a 72-76 corvette manual master with 1 inch bore and it was a bolt on hope this helps

I checked out a few corvette master cylinders and when you say it's a bolt on do you mean the bolt pattern on the firewall is the same? My 63 has a bolt pattern that is diagonal and I think the vette master is a horizontal pattern. I don't think its a big deal to redrill the fire wall though.

Your '63 has the horizontal mounting holes as well as the diagonal ones. There are a total of 4 bolts/bolt holes around the master cylinder. You will just have to remove the 2 bolts taht are not used right now and place them into the holes for your original master cylinder. All you need is a master cylinder for a '71-'87 truck with manual brakes. It will bolt up to your firewall. As for the pushrod, I can't say for sure if it is the correct length, or if it needs modified.

I have a 60 with a hydraulic clutch that I am doing away with and putting a 700r4 in for now would the do you know if the masters you listed above would work for my truck Capt? I plan on staying manual for now and getting your bracket and adding power drums later on.
