Re: Led headlights
Absolute crap don't bother with them. Just glue two mag lights to your hood and there you go pretty much

Re: Led headlights
I've seen them done on a square. Kind of was like a 1 dollar flashlight with a dead battery in comparison to halogen.

Re: Led headlights
If you want bright get a Hella HB2 conversion light and relay. Much much brighter on mine when I installed them. Just like a modern car, if not better.

Re: Led headlights
A guy I know from work has a 71 Chevy LWB has a set of LED headlights from a military humvee. He seems happy with them. But he also had to add a second battery to power them.

Re: Led headlights
My buddy put LED headlights on his H1 and they're bright as s**t. They're the 7" round ones though. I haven't seen any square ones though.

Re: Led headlights
They're produced by Truck-Lite and when I spoke with them back in November of 2010 they said they were currently working on the large rectangular (H6054) style and expected them to be available in 6-9 months. But like I said that was a year and a half ago. Still haven't seen anything on them as yet in any other size besides the 7" round
BTW they are available in 12 or 24 volt so maybe that's why he had to add a second battery to run his headlights.

Re: Led headlights
i agree with insidious, i tried some of the retrofit led bulbs in my suburban a while back, they look cool looking at them, but they only project about 3 feet. the truck-lites ones are badass, i just wish i could get them for my 84 crew cab, ive got the dual headlights.

Re: Led headlights
There are 5x7 led headlights now. Link. Don't know what the output is like, and it still only will fit on a few of our year trucks, cause of most using 4x6's.

Re: Led headlights
My buddy's are 24 volt. They came straight off a military humvee. I guessing they were his parting gift after 4 years in the motor pool.

Re: Led headlights
The reason why its 24 volts is all the military stuff is 24 volts so something like a jeep could jump start a airplane in the old days.

Re: Led headlights
We used them on every vehicle in Iraq. As well as all the route clearance lights we had. Each truck had around 10-18 lights on it. But the two headlights were plenty bright just driving around the base at night. Comparable to HIDs. They make the 12v and 24v systems for them. The 12v's I believe pull ~4 amps each and the 24v's pull ~1.4 amps. Not completely sure on the exact numbers. It has been awhile since I looked them up. There is a build in project forum. The 1977 crew cab that is a ton of pages long. He is using them in his truck.
