Question 1/2 ton and 3/4 ton interchangability

Can you change the front suspension from a 3/4 ton to a 1/2 ton a frames, spindles, ect. or are the frames different?

yes you can change to 1/2 ton pcs......swap the lower a arms, balljoints, & tierod assys & the spindles will bolt on. My 69 has been done that way(still has the stock crossmember & 3/4 top a arms). Good luck, crazyL

Crazy Longhorn,
What did you do for the top ball joints? Did you use the 3/4 ton ball joints or swap in 1/2 ton ball joints? What about the idler arm and Pitman arm?

Thanks!

The top balljoints were 1/2 ton pcs,& they bolt to the 3/4 ton a arms. The lower arms had to be changed, due to the difference in hole sizing for the balljoints. my 69 had been swapped to 3/4 ton discs previously(71 parts). When I swapped to 1/2 ton pcs, I changed the tierod sleeves,& outer tierods(same centerlink, & inner tierod ends, idler & pitman). if you can peel all the parts off 1 truck, you will be ahead of the game tho (no guesswork). Good luck, crazyL
