Pulled the motor on the Blazer
Well I after procrastianating for a year and with the nice weather I finally pulled the motor out of the Blazer. It runs fine but I had several leaks including the rear main and it just looked plain ugly in there. Ill reseal it and detail the underhood and plop it back in. Couple of suprises I learned... 1 broken motor mount and a cracked driverside exhaust manifold. Is this common for the manifolds to crack? How easy or hard is it to get a replacement or used one? Ill post pic of progress as I go. Any other things I should do while its out?

Re: Pulled the motor on the Blazer
I'd be interested in seeing how you go about detailing your engine compartment. Hope you take some pics along the way. I'll be starting that process soon and can always learn something new.

Re: Pulled the motor on the Blazer
those old ramhorn manifolds arnt hard to find they are on ebay and you can check here on the truck and blazer for sale forum. or check in your local area you might be able to pick up set close to home, my father is a mechanic and owns his own business and i bet he has 3 or 4 sets laying around.

Re: Pulled the motor on the Blazer
Replace them with the 2.5" ones. Way better flow. You can get them for under 100$ brand new. Theres a few threads on them

Re: Pulled the motor on the Blazer
I would replace them but Im not replacing the exhaust. So I need to find a replacement one. Im not sure if it is factory or off a vette. The cast # is 3932461 with a "RH 6" under the part # but Im showing these to be for a vette. The pass side (uncracked) # is 3932465. Both dump straight down and not to the rear of the motor. Anyone have any better knowledge of these?

Re: Pulled the motor on the Blazer
Brian... this exhaust doesnt have one of those exhaust thermostats on that side does it? If it does, check to see that it still rotates by hand and is not restrited in movement. This can cause the exhaust manifold on that side to overheat and crack if it wont open completely after it warms up.

Re: Pulled the motor on the Blazer
If they are truely vette manifolds, they would already be 2 1/2" outlets. These are harder to find OEM but are reproduced.
The trucks (and all other passenger car ramhorns) were 2 1/4" outlets. Very common to find. |

Re: Pulled the motor on the Blazer
Looking great. Brian, I was at Carlisle Friday and Saturday and there was a Blue CST Blazer like yours there with supposedly 29,000 original miles. It was nice, not perfect, but very nice. The owner put it through the auction but it didn't sell - he was asking $37,500!

Re: Pulled the motor on the Blazer
Thanks guys! Wow Rick 37,500 for a stock Blazer with supposedly 29000 on it. Wow thats the highest price stock Blazer Ive heard of. My guess is He probably really didnt want to sell it but if he got some obscene money he would let it go. Did you take any pics?

Re: Pulled the motor on the Blazer
Did you repaint the master cylinder? If so what color is that and what did you use? Thanks.
