73-79 or 80-91?

No idea on 80-91 but orange upside down marking paint works real good on 73-79....

Re: Painting guage needles??

I used spray paint. sprayed it into the cap then used a real small modelers paint brush to paint them.

that might have been a better match ,i used little model paints
my extra cluster needles were painted a bit when i bought it
small brush, little bits of paper with a slit wide enough to go under the pin
i found the paint i put onto the brush, slid off onto the needle when i touched it
just smoothed it out
and you can see it fine at night

Re: Painting guage needles??

Better be careful! Those needles get really brittle with age. I tried painting mine and broke both the needles off. Ended up gluing the Fuel back on but the speedo needle broke into smaller and smaller pieces every time I touched it. I whittled down a toothpick to the proper size to glue in place for the speedo. Ended up actually looking good after I got them painted. Nobody notices they have been fooled with until I point it out.

Newer GM needles are too long. There might be a specific model that has ones that aren't, but all the ones I've looked at were too long.
