Differential questions?
Hey I'm curious to find out what gearing i have in the back of my truck (1984 c10 w/305) but more specifically if i have a limited slip differential. The reason i
'm curious is because i just changed my gear oil and am wondering if i needed to add the special additive i searched a few times on here and people said to jack up the rear and spin one tire and watch the other one... i did and the other didn't move what so ever i tried both sides and both directions, am i missing something here? Thanks guys

Re: Differential questions?
Ah, just wanted to make sure. I pulled a dumb and tried the same thing without it in neutral once

G80 is the option for the limited slip/locking (ie, "non open") diff, and it would appear on your glove box sticker if you have it. If it's not on there then your truck was not built with it originally. K

Re: Differential questions?
You can go out when it's wet outside and take a right with some gas. If you just spin the inside wheel then you have no posi. If you go sideways and spin out then you prob have a gov loc. which is as good as putting a grenade in your pants with the pin pulled

Re: Differential questions?
If it says g80 and both wheels don't spin then the posi is shot anyway..
I have an 84 with a 305 and it came with 2.56. (t350 tranny) |

Re: Differential questions?
I'm not sure that i filled my diff. all the way up with gear oil i used a little over 2 qts which should be good i would assume i didn't really feel gear oil through the fill hole (was my first time doing this so not sure what it should feel like) but it was starting to run out the fill hole so i should be alright correct?
