IM BAD ABOUT SENTIMENTAL BELONGINGS/RESTORATIONS....THEY MEAN EVERYTHING TO ME.... POST SOME PICS AND LETS HERE THE STORY BEHIND IT/OR GETTING IT BACK ?.... I'M SURE THIS WILL BE A GOOD THREAD

Well here is my first one , my dad bought this in the fall of 75 in washington from walker chevrolet him and mom drove it up then the summer of 76 had it laced and marbelized in custom paint/tuck and rolled interior,anyways he sold it in 78 and bought a new 78 dually 4x4....well story goes i heard about the truck outside of town in 2004..so me and my cousin drove out and there it was..i was flushed with memories,just so happens the guy that bought it from dad broke the motor in 1980, and it sat until i found it. So i told the guy the story and he sold it to me..i was so excited. It needed to have some sheetmetal replaced from sitting so long, but i didnt care..called in a friend and had it flatbeded back to my shop....just so goes my dad was sick and leaving the hospital at the time and i called him and said "hey dad stop by my shop i got something you need to see" so anyways he stops by with my mom and i led im through the shop to the back door and before opening the back man door i said " you ready?'' he just looked at me with a confused look and said "ok" and i opened the door and there it was.from that a big smile rose among his face...then my mom piped in "oh no that things still around" .it made my day ...well the restoration began that following winter me and my cousin (my dads twin brothers son) started with installing the factory 454 we had rebuiltin winter of 05... Inthe summer of 2005 i brought up a 49,000 original mile 76 longbed 2wd from oregon (the same color gold) and used all the needed sheetmetal

Then once that was done had the truck all based out in gold again..and be that all the old sheetmetal was now on my parts truck, i had a perfect template for re-doing the custom paint...any ways the truck was finalized by the summer of 2008 and i dident miss a beat in date coding it (right down to the 8-track) and won people choice the following year with the boat i purchased and paintedto match..i remember looking back on all the work done and was so proud to relive my youth again by now being able to drive it...sad thing is dad passed away in 2007 so he wasnt there to drive it/see it all completed ...thats my story and the cool journey that saved "sundance"

I purchased my 69 CST/20 with bucket seats, A/C, 350, TH-400, etc. new at Barton's Chevrolet in Yorba Linda, CA, on Nov. 20, 1969, and drove it off the lot the next day. The truck was built at Fremont , CA, almost a year earlier the 1st or 2nd week of December, 1968. I drove it sparingly during the early 80s and have stored it in my garage since 1988. It has 118,7XX miles on it. Even though it was very presentable and had very little rust, I began a frame-off restoration last year. If I recall correctly the only significant items that are not original on the truck are the alternator and one head. I am currently doing a frame off restoration. I plan to replace the original 350 with a GMPP 350/330 HP crate engine, install an oak bed floor, and add a tilt wheel, tach, shoulder belts and AM/FM. Since I will retain all the original parts all modifications can be easily reversed if I eventually sell to a purist. I also still have the cab-over camper I purchased at the same day as the truck.

Dont sell it ever!! or atleast pass it down very nice looking /same exact truck that i had for my first truck (cst10 short 2wheel) colors and all

Mine has been in the family 3 years longer than I have. My parents bought it brand new in 1969. It followed them from Oregon City, to Anchorage, to Aberdeen Wa, Bellevue Wa, Bellingham Wa, and now I have it in California. It was originally light olive with white skirts and cab. They gave it to me when I turned 15 in 1988 and I proceeded to perform a "band aid" restoration by hiding the rust as best I could. It looked pretty good for about 10 years. I started a frame off in around 2006 and finished in 2010. Found lots of good California metal to replace the rusted panels from years of Washington rain.

Definitely an heirloom. After over 100,000 miles of family memories, my parents got a little teary eyed when they saw the finished product.
