Hi Just got myself a 74 Chevy Shortbed and could use some help

Hi everybody I just got my hands on one of my dream trucks a
1974 Chevy SHORTBED Custom Deluxe(I guess its a C/10)
Got it For 1700
Truck Starts and Drives(but you have to hold the gas down)
I bought a carb rebuild kit $22(gonna get it rebuilt by someone)
Things that It needed:
Air cleaner/housing
Tires
Carb rebuilt
I Just Have a few questions for everybody or anybody
1- My headlights don't turn on(when i pull out the light switch all the other lights turn on except the headlights(got a new buld from autozone but same thing)(there the round headlights)
2- The dipstick was loose so I bought one from napa, but How do I force the shaft into the motor dipstick hole, got about halfway in, but cant put the other half in, there a lip so i guess i have to push it untill the lip stops it?
3- On the valve covers theirs two with two little outlets like for the hoses, it has one hose that goes to the carb, does the other outlet go to the air cleaner housing?(I got and elderblock air cleaner and it came with an outlet too like for a hose is that what its for?
4- How do i adjust the clock? lol
5- My Gas Gauge and Battery Gauge dont work, can i fix them or do i have to order them new or go find a donor?

I Know im forgetting a couple things, ill post them tommarow after work
-Can yall post some pictures of yalls stock 73-80 engine set ups to help a new member
Take a look at my pics and tell me if yall see something missing thanks!

Hey congrats and welcome.
Ok the carb rebuild is a good start, but check the filter and pump, make sure you have fuel from the tank.
The headlights could be the dimmer switch
On the dipstick make sure part of the old one isn't broke off in the block. If not you have to tap on those aftermarket ones pretty hard to get them in, I use a small hammer and a block of wood.
Yes the other hose goes to the breather
There should be a little stem on the clock pull it out and turn, if the stems gone your f***
Gauges, check fuses, then sending units, wires to senders, etc.
Enjoy your truck
