CPP conversion axles question

OK I got my axles in from CPP, so I'm pumped to get them in and set this thing on the ground. The holes are not big enough for the 1/2'' studs....It's to late to call CPP and I don't want to be mad all night. Has this happen to anyone? Do I need to drill them out? Maybe get some 7/16'' studs?

5 lug axles use 1/2" studs. I think the holes in the wheels are designed for 1/2" studs and I don't think you'll get wheels to tighten up correctly with the smaller ones.

If they're 6 lug axles, then they will be setup for 7/16" studs. If they are 5 lug, they should be setup for 1/2" studs. Either way, I would drill them out for 1/2" studs. Probably overkill on 6 lug, but that's what I would do.

when you say they dont fit do you mean that the threaded part wont fit or the part with the Knurl ? the threads should go all the way through until the knurl is against hole, then use a lug nut to pull the stud home. you may need washers to have space for the knurl to come thru the face of the flange and seat completely on the back of the flange.

Thanks guys,It is the 5 lugs axles.The holes for the studs were to small and the threaded part of the studs would'nt fit. Talked to the guy at CPP and he said "sometimes you have to ream out the holes". I'm well aware of fabricating on older cars but when you spend good money on a new part it should work. Anyway I brought them to my friends machine shop and he drilled them out for me. Everythings fine now.

Thank you Taiwan? I agree with your sentiment; it is ridiculous that you had to drill out brand new axles. However, I wonder if it was a problem with the manufacturer of the axles or the studs... Given that (I assume) none of the studs fit, I would guess it was a problem with the axle manufacturer...
