where to buy a good bed fill gas cap?
I have seen some really simple ones, like the marine ones POL sells, and some really expensive ones but I have yet to find any that are nice looking for around $150.
Any of you guys know where there are a bunch to shop thru? Posted via Mobile Device

Re: where to buy a good bed fill gas cap?
one place you might want to check is at a local marine supply store. The one near me had a few different ones in stock including the oem stainless cool cap that is sold online for WAY too much with the brand name compared to the regular production part. If they don't have anything in stock i would ask to see a catalog since they can order anything you want. If you are looking for more of a stock looking door, you could always just go to the junk yard and start looking. Otherwise, there are some hot rod/street rod supply places that sell filler assemblies but they are often expensive. Where are you planning on putting the filler, in the floor, behind the plate, stake pocket, bed side etc?

I've noticed that a lot of the marine caps take 1.5" hose and the tank I'd like to us has a 2.5" inlet. Can you adapt the 1.5" cap to the 2.5" inlet?

I have a boyds tank like yours and bought this gas door to put in the bed. I'm going to use the cap that came with the tank.
It's a very nice piece. http://www.streetrodhq.com/detail/15...ED_SMOOTH.html

I'm using exhaust adapters to make up the size difference. About the most I have seen is to go from 1.5 to 2.0 in one shot, so you might need to do it in a couple of steps.

Re: where to buy a good bed fill gas cap?
Doc'sKustomtanks.com that's where i got my tank and filler from, he doesn"t have but a few different choices and the most popular is like the one Justin is showing. Now saying that let me say this, I enjoyed doing business with Doc, he will actually call you back if you have trouble with something plus....he will make it rightr and stand behind it. i forgot to mention that his fillers are like around 50 bucks, he also has the pop up kind.

Re: where to buy a good bed fill gas cap?
Kevin... That looks nice. Did you have to reduce the size from the filler neck to the tank?

are you going to fill thru the bed floor or use a stake pocket?

Curious about adding a tank door to the outside of the bed? Has anyone put a one on? How does it look?

Here is what mine looks like on the passenger side of the bed. There are a LOT of discussions on boards here on filler locations.

Re: where to buy a good bed fill gas cap?
Brian, the tank neck and filler neck are the same size on mine so the hose didn't have to be reduced, i did however have to cut off about 2 inches on the filler neck, i could have lowered the tank a little but didn't want to see that much of it hanging down. without cutting it down when putting the filler neck through the bed floor it would hit the top of the tank neck before getting flush.

Re: where to buy a good bed fill gas cap?
Brian, the stake pocket is the holes on the four corners of your bed. You can mount it flush at the top as seen on several builds here in the site. That is what i was planning on doing to mine but then decided to put it behind the tail light. There are several builds on the site where that has been done. Check it out they are pretty slick. Ultimately though i fell in love with the filler location that Delmo did on the build on Nacho Truck. I purchased the same filler he did and it cam from TruckandCarShop.com. I got the anodized one and it cost $60.00. I am not sure what the polished one cost. Look it up on the thread and check it out. BTW I still look for updates on your build. I really enjoyed it

Re: where to buy a good bed fill gas cap?
Thanks man... I'm ready to mount the bed but I just need to figure out how I'm going to get gas to the tank Haha.... I've got the boyd welds tank with the bed fill filler neck. I measured it last night and it was 2 1/4" inches. All of the marine ones I see are 1 1/2". If I can figure out how to make that work ill just get one of them. I don't think there would be enough room to do the exhaust reducers and I can't find a rubber reducer. I may just have to go with a trap door.
Any other ideas? Posted via Mobile Device

Crafty bees or krafty bee has some killer ones. May not have a flush mount one , but eye candy at least.
