Let's see some pictures of some dropped LWBs!

Hey guys I have an 83 LWB that I'd like to do a 3/5 or 2/4 drop on and was wondering if anyone has any pictures of some LWBs that have been dropped similar to this setup. Preferably with some 15" wheels but that's not necessary.

Here is a buddy's truck, its a 75 GMC Sierra long box, 4/6 drop

It's currently in pieces, he's doing a resto on it and giving it a pro touring look.

On a side note - This truck was undercoated with grafite grease in the late 70's. When we took it apart the whole frame still had the original paint. There was not a speck of rust on it at all. He took it apart because he's installing a drop member, 4 link, and pro charged 355. The frame is being boxed as well.

Re: Let's see some pictures of some dropped LWBs!

He built the truck with his dad when he was younger, and 5 years ago or so he bought the truck off his dad. Thats when he lowered it, then last year he built a new motor and rather then put it in with the tired old suspension, he decide to tear it apart and redo the truck from the ground up.
Theres a video on youtube, of him backing it into the garage for the last time before he took it apart.

Re: Let's see some pictures of some dropped LWBs!

Here is mine, might have seen it before in other threads. It's an 85 with alot of static drop it's notched and bed not cut with springs and spindles out front, with 1 1/8" front sway bar and a 1" rear bar. It also has a 67 -72 rear trailing arm setup with adjustable panhard bar and 3 extra crossmembers welded at the frame in additon to all other crossmembers being welded at the frame also. And not to mention an AGR 12:1 steering box. Wheels and tires spec out at 15 x 8 slt muscle mags with 275 60 15 bfgs. It will scare the hell out of a c-5 owner when they can't shake me in the middle of a 90 mph sweeper, ask me how i know, all i have left is to cage it and box the frame and control arms.

That's a nice lookin truck. I really like the BFG radial TAs. I will probably go with those the next time I get tires.

I was a bit discouraged that I had a long bed and was hesitant on dropping it because I didn't think it would look as cool as a short bed but after seeing those two trucks I think they look just as good as dropped short beds!

Re: Let's see some pictures of some dropped LWBs!

Thanks man, it's been a labor of love for sure. I work with what I have and a I have absolutely no use for a shortbed, I use my truck too much. It is an honest to God truck, it pulls, and it hauls and it doesn't have any time for b.s on or off the track.

Heres another.. its really dirty. Its about 5/7 drop and it looks really good. Its on big tires 235/75R15, so when i get new smaller ones, it will come down a little bit more. No rubbing issues at all right now.

Re: Let's see some pictures of some dropped LWBs!

Nice trucks guys. I think I ought to get some smaller tires for my truck as well... they seem a little too tall for me.

Re: Let's see some pictures of some dropped LWBs!

I'm just going to go a bit smaller tire in the front only. The back wheel looks perfect in the wheel well, but the front one looks too big. I also want the front end to come down another 1/2" or so. There is LOTS of clearance under the truck so Im not at all worried about ride height. My tires now are 28.9" diameter. Stock size is 26.5" diameter. Im going to put a front tire on thats around 27" dia so something like a 215/70R15. I would love to go wider, but Im not going to change the wheels.

Re: Let's see some pictures of some dropped LWBs!

Thanks! I am happy with my beater truck. It looks a lot nicer when its sorta clean. I'll get the mud off it and take a few pics tomorrow. My tires are much larger than stock. Stock is 26.5" diameter and mine are 28.9" diameter. Im going to leave the back tires the way they are and put some slightly smaller ones on the front. I dont have a c-notch. The axel right now is about 1" from the bump stops. I cut off the factory bump stops and installed the new thin ones that came from summit racing. Im putting air shocks in the back next week so then i can adjust the height of the back a couple inches either way and also air it up when i have my dirt bike in the back. The rear does bottom out constanty right now but the air shocks will fix that with an inch or so of lift. I put in some shims today to straighten out the drive shafts and they acted like little lowering blocks so the back is now a half inch lower than the above pic. The back right now is much lower than the front, but the air shocks will level it out and improve the ride.

Cool!

Thats exactly how mine looked a few months ago. All black. I used Tremclad flat white on the roof and some Krylon baby blue on the wheels. I just need to get that trim piece around the back of the cab to cover the paint line.

Re: Let's see some pictures of some dropped LWBs!

Here's a couple before/after shots of my 79 GMC. I cut a couple coils out of the front springs, then cut the rear leaf mounts off the frame, flipped em upside down and rewelded em, then pulled out 2 or 3 leaves (camper special, had like 8 of em, lol), put in some 6 degree wedges to straighten out the driveshaft. All said and done, its basically a 5/7 drop, give or take. All it cost was the $12 for the wedges! I'll eventually get some 20s and lower profile tires, but for now I'm stuck with the stock 235/75/15s...doesnt bottom out or rub even a tiny bit anywhere

Here's a few pictures of my truck. The first one is what the height is currently at. I would like to get it as low as the second picture.

Looks like you need a 3/5in drop kit to get it like the second pic.
