Repo 1968 chevy 7 hole gauge bezel ????

Does anyone repo the 1968 chevy 7 hole gauge bezel. I picked up a tach dash for my 68 that I'd like to restore, but I haven't be able to find the black with gray trim bezel. All the one I find are chrome.

I don't think they're made, I never seen them aftermarket. I ended up posting a WTB in the forsale section for mine. I paid like $70 shipped for a really nice bezel and gauges (no tach).

I have a 68 as well, with the same gray dash panel. I thought they all were chrome originally and that's why they only repo chrome ones, I always wondered why there was no trace of chrome on the damned thing. did they go chrome later in years or are the repos chrome 'just because' ?

Yeah. I've got a nice 3 hole and a rough 7 hole like that. Was a chrome bezel an option for 68 or just somthing the Repo guys got wrong?

I don't remember my 68 well enough to know what it had, but I do know in the mid-70s if you bought a GM (NOS before it was OS) repalcement unit all they had was silver, not chrome. So if you can track down an NOS one, it'll likely be the silver that most people actually -don't- want, but you do.

Similarly, if your 68 -could- have had chrome (I can't answer that part) then it's possible that what you have is one of those mid-70s GM replacements. Perhaps the original was replaced at some point?

doubtful that it had been replaced. I've owned 4 different 68's and they all had the painted gray bezels. I know what I have (what's shown in the pic) is correct for a 68 I'm just curious if the chrome bezel was an option for the 68. I don't think it was, but I'm not sure by any means.

So NOS might be the only option. Great, I'm sure that's going to be $$$$....

My truck has chrome bezel. Highly doubt its ever been replaced, truck is really original.

Is your truck a CST? All my trucks have been custom's or base models.

Do you know what the build date was on your truck? Maybe it was a mid model year change? I guess it's really not that important and I'll probably just go with the chrome bezel. It would be nice to know why some came with the painted and some came with the chrome though.
