Motor question...what would you do?

I need to make a motor decision soon. what would you chose between the 2 choices. I have a fairly built 454 w/aprox 425 to 450 hp...would be carburated till August when I can get a good deal on a FAST or Atomic efi system. The other option is to buy a 6.0 w/ZO6 cam w/aprox 375 hp. This would be a complete motor w/wiring, ecm thottle pedal, etc. I already have the 454. This is going into my 71 1ton burb, running 35" tires and t400 tranny. Need to decide very soon.

6.0 w/cam. Newer engines have much better fuel management than the older ones. The installation is almost plug and play now.

Re: Motor question...what would you do?

I'm just afraid of the lower horsepower for a big heavy rig.

Re: Motor question...what would you do?

hmmmm.... with the TH400 neither one will really get good mileage. I would stick with the BB. If you intend to drive it quite a bit a 4L80E would be a better investment than the 6.0L. But that is only my opinion.

Going with the 468 and either FAST or MSD Atomic efi.

Re: Motor question...what would you do?

You`ll have tons more torque with the B.B. With the big tires, weight and already own it, I`d go B.B.

I went this route, mark is one hell of an engine builder, he does EVERYTHING in house, nothing gets farmed out. I have no connection with him other than a happy customer

Re: Motor question...what would you do?

I have seen his site and motors and if I didn't already have a 468 I would look into his motors for a big block option.
