Re: I need a picture????
On my 1969 CST/20 with 350 the wire runs along the top edge of the left valve cover then curves around the front of the head, under the exhaust manifold then up to the sensor between cylinders 1 and 3. There are a couple clips welded to the valve cover to retain it and also a connector attached to the top driver's side stud holding the water pump. I don't think I have a picture showing the clips or routing. Also, the wire was run through a 1/4" fabric loom.

Re: I need a picture????
Here's a pic of one bracket next to the water pump; silver-colored...the loom part is old and a bit frayed. I don't recall a second bracket just the clips mentioned by FirstOwner69. Clips just below Quadrajet linkage.

Re: I need a picture????
I found some pictures.
The 1st 2 are as it's been for 42 years. The 1st not very good shot shows it curving around the front of the head and exhaust manifold and what remains of the fabric loom (lower left of alternator pilley). The 2nd shows it along the valve cover (looks like there's only one clip just to the right of where the 2 wires cross and the wire is not actually in it in the pic). The clip is barely visible in the resized picture...sorry. I don't recall what the brown or black wire is. The third is a shot of the retainer clip at the water pump on the truck as it exists today. The early Corvettes used clips that were attached under the top valve cover bolts. Perhaps that's what yours has. If you don't have the clip welded to the valve cover, you could order some of those used on the Vettes. Last edited by FirstOwner69; 04-01-2012 at 10:36 PM. |

Re: I need a picture????
Here's a picture I copied from an old classified ad on this forum. It shows 2 clips on the valve cover.

I haven't seen an illustration in any of the manuals that shows how the wire runs. In the factory routing, does it have any kind of hi-temp cover over it where it is near the exhaust. Waiting for pic x2!
