Factory-appearing title column?

I have a '70 GMC that is missing tilt; I'd like to add it, and I know there are dozens of alternatives like the I-Did-It stuff, but is there a good reproduction of the factory option?

Or will I need to hunt down and restore an original, which I assume is going to be tough to locate?

I know that CPP makes a reproduction tilt column, not sure of the quality though. You may want to contact member kevsclassics, he rebuilds and sells quality columns.

They aren't tough to find. They turn up on the parts board quite often. Expect to pay $200 - $300 for an original and $400 - $500 for one fully restored. Those numebrs are assuming an auto trans shift tilt.

An alternative is a van tilt which is nearly identical and will save you some cash.

Re: Factory-appearing title column?

i agree - i'd be much more comfortable buying a rebuilt original from a board member, even if it cost as much as a new cpp or whoever column. Nothing against cpp, I just prefer the original stuff if I can find it - and they really do pop up in the want ads on here very often.
