Need help Rebuilding deluxe GMC heater, mainly with switches and such

I have a 65 GMC c10, it has a deluxe heater. Problem is, it has no knobs or cables, atleast I cant see cables. Would this work in it. If not can I buy parts or only the whole thing.

Also, how does it work, the heater I mean. Theres a switch down below and the one with 3 knobs missing. If moving the one on bottem I can get blower to work. but it barly does and you can hardly hear it mebe I need to clean it out. Any links to treads that has done this before.

With broken handles and no cables you beter off going on ebay and buying the whole thing complete. They appear quite often.

Here’s the post that shares the most information related to 60-66 heaters. If you’re missing pieces, the diagrams on post #49 (page 2) may prove particularly helpful, explaining how things connect. Even though the diagrams are for 60-63 heaters, as far as I know the functions remained the same for the 64-66 model deluxe heaters:

If the control assembly is still with your truck it can easily be rebuilt with new levers and knobs. If it’s missing, new replacements are available it you don’t want to deal with a used assembly:

Got the truck running good after the winter (stored inside but in cold) anyway, The heater makes a whirly should and no air blows, no idea what setting its on because the knobs are broke, but it does not sound good.

Yes, those are the correct levers. It appears to be the fan switch that is mounted low. It should be coming through the slot on dash. The cables can be purchased seperate. Go to the thread MarkB posted...the best on the forum for heaters.

Thanks, Id sooner listen to roar of that engine then the radio so Il throw some knobs on and call it a day with the radio.

The noise you’re hearing is probably the fan motor bearing or the fan hitting the housing. You might find that once you have taken it apart you can fix it, if not then you can either get a used one from a wrecking yard or a reproduction / replacement from one of the repro shops (Truck Shop, LMC , Classic Industries).
Once you take the housing off you can clean it up and look at the heater core to see if it’s ok. On my 61 I removed everything to get to the motor and cleaned it up and painted it.

if the fan motor is running but it doesnt blow ,it may have ratsnestitis.. mine had half the front seat balled up in the elbow ,mr. mouse was quite comfy...
