Cleargearz Diff cover!

I'm suppose to get the cover today by the tracking number so with that, what is everyones suggestion for the rear end lube?
It's a stock 4:10 12 bolt!

I will take pictures and hope to have a video by this afternoon are in the morning with it installed and showing it running.

I bought mine here.

After talking to tech support at Air Lift I have found out that the kit I need is 60811. Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs.

Cool Re: Cleargearz Diff cover!

OK here is the beginning.

Got the cover off and draining. Doesn't look bad for over 300,000 miles on it.
Going to clean flange really good and just waiting now on the new cover to show up. May change the oil to while I'm waiting since I can't drive it.
I also have to find a good spot for the Go Pro camera to get a action shot of it once installed.

Dino will work fine but I prefer synthetics in the gearboxes. I'm using Mobil-1 75W-90, have also used Redline in other rigs. It'll be happy with just about anything you use, as long as it's clean!

Cool Re: Cleargearz Diff cover!

Yea I saw it. I have to take it back apart and use sealer I guess. The gasket I bought sucks! I'll fix it tomorrow I hope maybe. I have tightened the bolts as much as I want and it keeps leaking. Note to self use sealent on diff cover without gasket next time.

Some times if you over tighten the bolts it can cause leaks as well.

Yes it is leaking. Looks like it starts at about the 2 min mark. Like the idea of that cover though. It's pretty cool.

That would be cool on a 4x4 where everyone could see it, still cool to watch suspension work.

Cool Re: Cleargearz Diff cover!

Thanks everybody.
I moved the camera back to the back bumper so it will get more of the movement of all the components as the truck is running. Should also help on the glare. I have it all tore apart again to fix the leak with silcon tomorrow after I wake up. Should have another video in a day are so.
After I get this done I'm going to move the camera to the front looking back and get front wheels in motion. Maybe even a engine video under the hood while driving.

Re: Cleargearz Diff cover!

It would be awesome if they made these for other axles. I wouldn't mind one on my truck. You can always see your gear lube level easily. But I'm guessing these aren't very strong to help the housing from spreading. (Not that you are worried about it)

Cool Re: Cleargearz Diff cover!

I don't think a 1/2 ton D/D would spread the housing on a normal trip back and forth to work!

That maybe why you don't see them for other axles.
