Seat/shoulder belt

What is the easiest upgrade to shoulder belts available to install in our trucks? I want to get some inexpensive ones from the junkyard...anyone done this?

i was looking at my dad's truck, a 93 f150, and it looks like the shoulder belts should be able to just bolt right in. when my truck gets to the point of driveable, i was going to try using his to see before i went and actually bought some. has anyone tried that yet?

You will need to make a bracket to move the mounting bolt out about 5 " on the driver side and 4" on the pass. I made them out of bar stock from Home Depot took about 1/2 hour to cut 2 ( 6-7" )pieces and drill 4 (1/2 ") holes .

Bill72BB, Did you have to modify the S-10 shoulder belts or brackets or were they a simple bolt on conversion?
Thanks, Robert

was just posting above about the bracket's I made I did this about a year ago so the dimensions may be off a bit but it's no big deal if you have a 1/2 " drill bit and a Sawsall with a metal blade .

Full size 1500 Chevy GMC belts also work. Same mod as Bill described if you still have the tank in. I think the full size gives you a bit more belt space.

I must have been typing my question at the same time that you answered my question - LOL.
What thickness bar stock did you use?
Robert

Palf67Step,
Does your reply mean that moving the belts forward is only necessary if you have the-in cab tank? I, too, would like to add seat belts but don't like the idea of making any kind of brackets to adapt safety items of this kind no matter how easy the modifications.
Does anyone have an affordable bolt in swap that uses the existing mounting points with the newer belt designs without alterations?
Still looking at all the possibilities.
Thanks, Trukman1

I bought mine off of ebay from this place http://www.stores.ebay.com/truckandr...t0/page4.html. They were easy to install with minimum modifications. I had to bend the mountig plate a little bit for it to fit the floor properly and I a added 4 inch piece of chain to the
center buckles because they are not long enough for our trucks. The shoulder belt that I bought was a universal belt and I think I paid about $80.00 for both sides.

I was looking for some belts, too. Hesitated to pull a set out of a junker, never know exactly what shape they're in.

Found this vendor (NFI) .Seat Belts . They offer retrofit and replacement units. $65 for new retractable shoulder/lap, bunch of colors. Haven't ordered yet.
