what trans crossmember do i need

when i buy a trans crossmember how much drop will i need for a 51 chevy?

I don't think you need a lot of drop but it needs to match with how the engine is set in on the front mounts.

If I'm building my own engine mounts I like to mount the transmission in place first and then level the engine and fab the mounts. If I am using production engine mounts I would rather mount the engine first and then do the trans mount.

That might sound a bit off but it has worked for me both ways on different swaps over the past 40 years.

Lool through some of the guys build threads and see how they mounted theirs to get some ideas.

I would call TCI. Im going with one of theirs to match their IFS.

I have a TCI trans cross member in my 55 I got it with my IFS and rear leafs along with there motor mounts. They are nice and easy
