Clutch Choice
Hey guys, I have decided to swap out the TH-350 that is in my truck with a T-5 that i have in my shop. My motor is a built 1970-80 400 SBC, I have an aluminum bellhousing to go with the transmission but that is it. What flywheel,clutch/pressure plate assembly would you guys suggest? Also where is the best place to source these parts from and i also need a slave cylinder and pedal assembly. Is there anything else i will need? Here is what i am planning on needing,

Re: Clutch Choice
That's a lot of torque for a T-5 to handle unless it is a later world class trans.
Unless you have the 400 internally balanced already you will have to get a flywheel that is specific to a 400 engine and has the counter weight on it. Clutch kit is your choice of both brand and vendor. |

Re: Clutch Choice
I put a 92 Camaro T-5 in my Nova last year. I used my 11 inch flywheel, pressure plate, bellhousing and the 92 Camaro clutch disc. I did this so I wouldn't have to worry about figuring out how to put a hydrollic clutch setup on my car. The T-5 has more splines on the input than my saginaw did, so I was forced to use the 92 disc. The disc is 10.5 which left 1\4 inch all the way around the outside of the flywheel and pressure plate not getting touched. I haven't had any problems so far.
