Rubber sheeting for back of suburban.
So recently someone left the back window down on my 85 suburban during a rainstorm.
The carpet became soaked, and much shop vac'ing and steam cleanind later, the smell is gone and the carpet is dry. No big deal. However i have been toy'ing around with the idea of puttigndown rubber sheeting for floring instead of carpet. So i went down to my local industrial rubber store anf got some qoutes. Im going to need about 6' wide at the least for between th efinder wells and about 9' for from the bqack of the second row to the tailgate opening and to do the tailgate. The qoute i got was for a 4' wide peaice at 9' long was abotu $150 after taxes. Does anyone know any other websites or places to get some rubber sheeting? Probably an 1/8" to 1/4" thick? Let me know what yall think. -Z

Re: Rubber sheeting for back of suburban.
I'd get the stuff molded/cut to fit. If the carpet has dried out and any smell is gone, I wouldn't pull the carpet except to put down the factory stuff. That or some of the molded floor mats from someplace like weathertech that can lay over the carpet but still be taken out to clean.

This burb also sees lots of camping/tailgating at the lake, etc, so that was another reason for considering some rubber of some type.

Re: Rubber sheeting for back of suburban.
I was thinking that or I'll on, but my only concern would be the sub/power wire cable bundle I have running back there. Maybe fee it through some flex ad strap it down?

Re: Rubber sheeting for back of suburban.
You could always run the wires up between the head liner and the roof then back down the pillars to your speakers.

Re: Rubber sheeting for back of suburban.
I used a rubber bed mat left over from my Dad's Dodge Dakota. The fit wasn't perfect, but it was good enough. IIRC once I got the cut outs for the wheel wells lined up it was a little long on each end. I just trimmed enough of it so the barn doors would shut.

Re: Rubber sheeting for back of suburban.
I bought one of those thick (1/2"?) rubber mats they sell at TSC. It fits perfect between the whee houses and from the second seat to the cargo doors. It still had carpet under there so I still had the option of having a nice carpeted surface. That should work fine. Just remember to close the rear window. Mine had cargo doors, but on my Jimmy I just always close the window when I park it for the day...just like all the other windows. Those mats are something like $50

Re: Rubber sheeting for back of suburban.
Yes,I was just getting stuff out of the Suburban yesterday and it's like those stall mats are made to fit. It has a simulated diamond tread pattern for that chique fashion statement, lol. The vehicle is retired and just storage now. So,I don't look at it much. I totally forgot mine is a base model with rubber floor, not carpet, which leads to me wondering...why not look for a used rubber floor? The two together work great and no absorption issues. Comfort up front and cargo in the back.
