Need help choosing exhaust.
I have a 1984 GMC swb with a 350 and a pretty thumping cam. next step is exhaust so i can get it tagged and inspected. I need opinions on what exhaust to run and preferences anything will help. I'm leaning for flow master 40 series, however I have seen some info on the website about 40 series Delta flow and don't know the difference. I want loud and clean sound, I don't know if i want to run 2 1/2 inch or 3. like i said any suggestion would help. Here is what my truck sounds like with open headers.

Re: Need help choosing exhaust.
Yea I love the way it sounds. Thanks for checking it out anyways though.
It should be drivable by the end of the weekend. I just don't want to get a exhaust that takes to much away. Posted via Mobile Device |

Re: Need help choosing exhaust.
I wanted something different as well. So I found a small outfit called spintech. Prob the best mufflers I've owned. The only drone is a few hundred rpm above idle which is a range your almost never in. So freeway cruzing is good on the ears. Plus they don't sound like anything else

Re: Need help choosing exhaust.
yup, I think there the regular pro-streets. I had full 2.25 exhuast that the back half of was damaged in an accident so I reused the front half and put 2.25 spintechs on with turndowns for a while. Finally got sick of the fumes coming in my sunroof so I bought some magnaflow universal 3" tailpipes. They ended up being 2 3" tails for a single exhaust dodge dakota so I cut one in 4 places and welded it back up to make a left side pipe. I cut the 2.25 outlet flanges off the mufflers and welded on some 3" ones to accept the new tails without being a bottleneck there.

Re: Need help choosing exhaust.
I've got 87 with a stock 350, 2 1/2'' pipe no cat and 50 series Flowmaster exiting 90* behind the back tires. It sounds pretty good but if I had to do over I would prolly go with 40's.

Re: Need help choosing exhaust.
Thrush Welded. Basically a flowmaster 40 for half the price with just as good build quality and sound. Running these on my 305 and have been very impressed with no drone (exhaust running straight back and outside rollpan).

Re: Need help choosing exhaust.
if you are going to run cat's i would stay away from flowmasters, if you arent, i think they sounds alright on a more build up engine but every dork in town puts on on his stock truck and puts a flowmaster sticker on his back window. i have hear spintechs in person and it makes me with i would have gone with them. i just went with summit welded mufflers (reboxed flowtech afterburners). i picked them after looking at this thread http://67-72chevytrucks.com/vboard/s...d.php?t=263014.

I have mid america chambered exhaust on my truck they used them on the old corvettes and they have a good sound plus they aren't too expensive.

Re: Need help choosing exhaust.
Flow 40's for me, running a single 3" exhaust with a 3" in and dual 2.5 outlets on my 83 dumped in front of the axle, love the deep rumble, and the drone, who needs a stereo that is music to my ears

Re: Need help choosing exhaust.
i am not a fan of drone. but i also hate riding in a car whe the driver thinks they are 12 and have to have really loud base. i like my set up, i only get a little drone just off idle but that seams hard to avoid
