Drop it down, and a set of wheels.

Re: New member here 78 gmc swb
Are you sure its a 78? I thought 78's had the fuel door...
Nice truck. Spindles up front and a shackle/hanger kit will get you a mild drop...spindles/springs an a flip kit will get you even lower. Both will improve ride and handling over stock.

Re: New member here 78 gmc swb
Welcome to the site man, and great truck. I would drop it, but keep it usable and drive it! I would just keep the stock wheels with some nice OEM hubs, tired of seeing the humongous wheels, but its your decision.

Re: New member here 78 gmc swb
I got the rear hubcaps on ebay and the front ones with the hole from classic chevy truck, i think that is the name, cant remember now. but they are not hard to find and i think that look is sweet. beats an aftermarket wheel IMO....

Re: New member here 78 gmc swb
Good looking truck you found there!
I have a 79GMC swb (pictured below) that I've lowered... The rear end has been flipped (approx. 5" drop) along with dropped spindles and 1 full coil cut from the front springs (approx. 4" drop). It's running 8" rallys in front and 10" out back. Hopefully that'll give you some reference as to how much drop your looking for. ![]() |
