Re: front air bag install?
You will need a cup on the bottom of the bag, but you can cut them down to get a little more drop. You just want to make sure the bag doesn't rub on the control arm when deflated. That is why you will see some guys mod their lower arms with a 8" pipe, to allow the bag to sit lower and have clearance.

Re: front air bag install?
Few examples. Some guys will just buy new arms if it is in the budget, as it will save you time and you will get better front end geometry with the caster & camber....

Re: front air bag install?
No, you don't weld it to the lower arm. Some guys will put light tacks to help hold it in place, but it is not necessary. You won't be able to get to the lower bolts on the bag if it is welded to the lower arm (or it will be very hard to through the small hole at the bottom). The bag will stay in place through the upper bag plate on the crossmember.

Re: front air bag install?
You should be able to cut them down. I would test fit the bag and cup in the lower control arm, and go from there. You can always take off more, but can't add. You might find, they are already as short as possible without the bag touching the arm.
The above pictures show how the lower control arm has ben notched completely out, so the bag can bolt right to the arm without issues. So it doesnt rub anywhere. |
