Capt,
The rear on my 1984 is from Fey, came that way from the factory.
I don't know who made the front bumper (probably Fey).

I think they are widely availible. I saw them in a JC Whitney and some auto parts places can/will order them.

Have you tried a rechroming place? Locally there is place that fixes old bumpers and then rechromes them.

Chrome for Show

If you want "show quality chrome" talk to ADVANCED PLATING in Nashville tenn., there not too far from you. They will give you anything you want, send them yours, you won't recognize them when you get them back. They do good work.
Or Bumper Boyz outta California, they follow the car show/swap meet circuit. Out right or exchange. You can look at them for yourself, and prices are not all that bad.

Thanks for the tips guys, but the problem that I didn't specify is I have NO bumpers at all. I am wanting stock bumpers for it, but GM doesn't have any.

I may give my front bumper up. If I can find a decent 83-87 bumper, I might let my 82 go. I have a thin @ss LMC rear bumper too. I don't see it going on my truck either....

What bumper is currently on the rear of the Blazer Ken? Stock or the LMC? How much for the POS LMC bumper? As for the front, I might have to get with you on it for the "other" truck if it is factory, but the Jimmy needs the pre-81 model.

Currently it has no bumpers on it. I have the stock 82 front and rear, and the LMC rear.
I forgot the Jimmy was rounded line...

Have to agree with mark. Stock bumpers are no comparison to LMC. Bought an original stock rear bumper from him, weighs about 80 lbs. When calling around checking aftermarket places, most of them had a shipping weight of about 50 lbs.

Rear Bumper

Suburbans used the same rear bumper and are pretty easy to find. I have an extra front 81-82 front bumper I would like to trade for a rear bumper. The aftermarket bumpers all seem to be thinner metal than the originals. And alot of them the chrome is not real high quality.

Ok guys, here is the problem. Lets rule out any stock stuff, it can't be found here that is in the right condition that someone would be willing to sell. All I have is salvage yards to peer through, as in wrecked. I HAVE to buy some, and I want it show quality. The bumper place that used to be here that straightened and re-chromed is gone, so that it out of the question also. I have bought from one place and the chrome they had sucked, so I need a place to buy show quality bumpers that aren't thin and the chrome crappy.

At this point, I am might just go get whatever I can find that is straight and worry about looks later.

I hate to whore someones post but . . ..... Ken, I've got a brand new, GM, in the box, later model blazer/burb rear bumper. I've been considering using the newer style if I can't find quality early style bumpers for front & back. I've got a lead on some early bumpers @ a bumper shop in dallas & if I decide to use them I'll sell the new GM for what it cost me if your interested.

SCOTI,
Not whoring it up. You're still talking about bumpers. If you find some good quality early ones in your search, let me know.

Yes sir, that was my intent. Over the phone, my contact assures me of the quality & that they are rechromed 'factory' bumpers- not repros. I didn't want to say anything until I actually could see them first. I've got the prices written down somewhere, I'll try & dig them up for ya' as well.

If they are factory rechromed and the quality meets your standards, let me know.

Scoti, thats ok, you can whore my post any time big boy...
That may work out great for Chris. I have a new style front, and you have a new style rear. If he can't get things going on a pair of early style bumpers, then we have him covered.

He will have to come to Texas to get them though. Maybe he can meet us at Heatwave. We can strap them to the roof of his Vette.... YeeeeHaw:p

Ok, I went by there after work & the front is genuine GM that's been straightened out & re-chromed (Looks good for a driver but not much better). The rear was actually a repop that they initially kept telling me was GM. I don't pretend to know everything about bumpers, but after looking it over, on the inside it didn't have any rash that a 30yr old bumper should have IMO. Finally another guy came over & confirmed it was indeed an aftermarket ( it looked about the same as the front quality wise).

Front was 130, rear was 170??? I don't understand the price discrepancy. They also said they had a factory bumper that had the holes for the impact strip that they could straighten/chrome but I'm only interested in smoooth.

I did call another guy & he's supposed to get back w/me but I haven't heard from him yet. Sorry.

Front Bumpers

Heres a couple used original GM bumpers on EBAY right now, would need replating. Send them out and get "show quality chrome" done, then they will be the way you want them. See what you think.

Chris, check out this auction and check out the sellers other auctions.

Not sure if this is the real deal, and the pic sucks...but worth checking into.

Captkaos, I didn't forget ya' man . . ....

I finally talked w/the other guy & he had some originals. I had him straighten & rechrome them & picked them up on Fri 5/23 for $270 F/R. They looked pretty decent & I asked about more for you & he said he could prob come up w/a couple more but couldn't give any solid time line. I've got his number & told him I would check bi-weekly for status updates.

I'll try & get some pics of the ones I got & post them so you can get an idea on the quality. Let me know what ya' think.

Jeff, that black bumper on Ebay may be just the ticket for my Indy Hauler. It has impact strips and needs a front bumper. They aren't reproducing them yet. Thanks!
