Green calipers? [Photo]

I'm rebuilding a set of '72 3/4-ton calipers for my '70, and I noticed that the old grimy originals seem to be green. Is this really the stock color? I have done one in a natural cast color and like the looks of it, but if they were really green I should probably try to match it.

Please let me know if anyone has any idea what the calipers were originally!

Thanks,
Dave

pretty sure the factory just threw them on bare and let them naturally age. a.k.a. rust.

Yup -- the green ones must have been painted by a PO.

Here's the coating I wound up using (Eastwood exhaust manifold 1200F paint) that looks convincingly enough like a new casting.

That's what I use, except not by Eastwood and for half the price. It's called Cast Blast,Cast Grey,or something like that. That's funny someone painted it green.

Cool Re: Green calipers? [Photo]

I redid mine a while back. Cleaned them really good with brake cleaner and a wire brush. Got all the grease and oil off and hand painted them with the ceramic paint from O'Reillys.
The green was either over spray from a bad paint job are they liked it better than rust.

Get out and drive the truck this summer and have some fun!
It sucks not being able to hear!

LWB trucks rule, if you don't think so measure your SWB!
After talking to tech support at Air Lift I have found out that the kit I need is 60811. Per the measurements I gave them. Ride height of truck inside spring and inside diameter of springs.
