I used 140wt gear oil in my 68 anything thinner would leak worse. some jeep guys use grease. I hated that axle! water in, oil out No mater what I did it leaked. I sure miss that truck though

The manual for my 62 calls for gear oil. Recently, someone posted the Dana factory manual, which you may find helpful. You need to search for it.
When I rebuilt my closed knuckles, I packed all the bearings with wheel bearing grease, like conventional wheel bearings. Now, I do not run oil in the knuckles, except for occasionally brushing some on the felt seals. Posted via Mobile Device |
