Adjusting the E brake
I went to get a state inspection yesterday expecting to pass with flying colors only to find out that my E brake will not hold the truck in gear. I assume it just needs an adjustment. How would I go about doing this?

Under the truck on the drivers side there is a adjustable point there. If all the cables are in workable condition you should remove most of the slack in them. Then apply the brake to get the desired effect. Just insure you don't get them too tight allowing them to release. Hopefully your cables haven't stretched and you can get the slack out.

I wish I can remember where I read it, but put your ebrake on half way, then adjust all slack out of it where Sammy suggests

Well. I backed off one nut (the one on the front) and tightend the nut behind it and moved it about 1/2 in. It still will not stop by the brake alone like before (it will, it just takes a while). Should I keep tightening? I did this befor I got the third post so tightend it with the brake fully on.

Back off the cable tension and adjust your rear brakes first. They should be adjusted so that there is a very very slight drag. You adjust them down until the drum won't turn with the rear wheels both up off the ground and the trans in neutral and then you back the brake adjuster off until a very very slight drag remains. Do this on both sides. Now adjust your e brake cable.
