Base/Clear Coat on an Engine
I have heard of a person or two base/clear paint their motor. How well does that hold up. I would like to color match my motor to the truck, a little hard to do using hi-temp paint. Also, is there any advantage of base/clear to single stage in this application.

The clear coat will yellow over time. I have used single stage in the past and it holds up great. No yellowing and no pealing, just be sure to have everything really clean. Good luck

I also vote for single stage.

Re: Base/Clear Coat on an Engine
Just a follow up......I'm not saying you can't use base clear. I used single stage on a couple daily driver type motors, the SS was much easier to care for with the inevitable scratch/chip. A small model car paint brush made chip repair a breeze.
