Gas Gauge issues
Just bought a 1986 K10 SWB 4x4 with a 4" lift and 33's 2 days ago. trying to fix some of the issues i have. my gas gauge is everything but accurate. sometimes it will read dead empty the you hit the gauge with your fingers and it will slowly go up to a certin point and drop a little. it just slowly moves where ever it wants and has a mind of its own. anyone know what could be causing this issue? a bad ground? a bad gauge? i dont know where to go from here. any advice will be helpful. Thanks, Brandon.

Re: Gas Gauge issues
If you are getting some reaction from tapping the gauge it could be some corrosion or bad contacts behind the gauge, that's where I would start.

Re: Gas Gauge issues
I would check the contacts as previously said, the gauge contacts are spring terminals and the gauge just pulls out once the bezel and lens are removed.
I would try reseating the gauge a few times them put some contact lube on the contacts and try that. |
