How does this Cummins engine deal sound?
I found a 93 Cummins with 88k on it, comes with a 727 auto and transfer case. The truck it came out of was used as a plow truck and reverse is not working. He wants $1200 for it. I dont have any use for the 727 and transfer case. So what do you folks think?? Deal or no deal.

Buy it. Motor is worth that all day long. Also entirely possible the no reverse condition is a $50 repair.

It a 12v, I kinda fiqured that it should be worth it. Maybe even make some $ back on the tranny and transfer case.

Re: How does this Cummins engine deal sound?
That thought crossed my mind too. He's had on C.L. for $2500 for awhile, said that he had about 8 people look at it but no buyers at that price. That was a couple months back. He is going through the big D now and wants/needs to get ride of it. I dont know the guy personally, but my neighbor is the one who told me about it. He heard it run before they pulled the engine from the truck. This guy bought it from his freind who did the snow plowing.
So who knows... |

Re: How does this Cummins engine deal sound?
Oh it's just a motor trans and xfer case! I thought it was a whole truck. I'd show up at the guys house with a pick up and $800 and take that oil burner home. I've never been involved in a cummins swap, but i like the idea of using the dodge trans/xfer case/ and front diff to free up space for exhaust on the right underneath the rig.

That one will actually have a passenger side drop so you can use the Chevy front axle. Swap is not hard and the price is decent. I bought a complete truck to do my swap.
