Carpet or Rubber Floor Mat

Looking for opinions on which you have in your truck, and are you happy with it, or do you wish you had chosen the other option instead.

Re: Carpet or Rubber Floor Mat

Just put down some fresh carpet a couple weeks ago. In combination with the insulation and deadening, I'm really happy with it. Its 80/20 loop as would be pretty standard back in the day. Its a nice deep black, and is plush to the touch.

acc makes the mats, and they are who a bunch of retailers sell for diff prices. I got mine from Classic Parts, they had the best price but backordered it without telling me first and I had to wait an extra week and a half.

Re: Carpet or Rubber Floor Mat

so far all my trucks have the floor mat, I really like the mats, more truck like I guess.... however I am thinking I need to do carpet in my sub (do they even make carpet kits for subs? ) since the rear floor mat is not available....

any input on what you guys with subs and panels have done would help.

That seems to fit very well and looks nicely trimmed around the edges. Thanks for posting the photos.

Re: Carpet or Rubber Floor Mat

I've went back and forth with this.
I had a really nice original rubber mat in my 65 years ago, and I liked how I could sweep or even hose it out.

But I may just go with carpet like BR3W CITY got for the more warmer feel.

Re: Carpet or Rubber Floor Mat

I’ve always preferred the rubber mats myself, both because they are easy to clean and don’t retain dirt like carpet, but also because they don’t deaden any noise. With a manual transmission, gear drive and loud mufflers, I never miss a single of note of music the driveline produces. It also takes me back to how these trucks sounded when they were new, and most were bare bones and pretty noisy.

But I’m currently torn between upgrading to the rich appearance of carpet, or going for the Raybuck full floor vinyl floor mat like Kieth has.

I agree on the neat whine of the sm420. Only thing im noticing is the heat factor. The PO took the firewall pad off and it feels like the heat is on all the time! lol

The raybuck mat is only 135. Anybody have pics on that full floor mat?

Re: Carpet or Rubber Floor Mat

That’s what the Raybuck vinyl floor mat does. It doesn’t look OEM authentic, but it does cover the entire floor.

LMC offers a similar product, or it may even be the same item.

Re: Carpet or Rubber Floor Mat

There is one place (i think its stock interiors) that sells a vinyl one peice mat that fits just like the carpet and goes to the back wall. Its about the same price as carpet, and you can get it color matched. It looks a little like having rhino liner on the floor.

Re: Carpet or Rubber Floor Mat

It will be in my truck in the next week or two. After due consideration and discussion about the advantages of carpet versus mats with my squeeze, I bit the bullet and placed an order with Stockinteriors.com for a full floor black vinyl mat. It appears to be the identical molded item offered by LMC and Raybuck, except Stockinteriors had a sale going on that saved a few dollars. Once installed I’ll post an update.

Re: Carpet or Rubber Floor Mat

anybody purchased or seen this one in person?
http://www.bobschevytrucks.com/1964-...ow-tunnel.html

my dad was asking about a replacement rubber mat for the '66 he recently bought, so I'm trying to research what's out there...he might not mind having the style that covers the full floor, but I was trying to see if OEM-style mats are available anywhere

Re: Carpet or Rubber Floor Mat

I have a NEW 12' x 12' piece of indoor carpet in the rafters and the original after market carpet kit that I got with the truck. I plan on using the old carpet as a template and cutting a new piece with the chunk I have in the rafters. DIY
I like carpet in my classics.

Mats for me cause sometimes I use it for what they were built for and the dirt doesn't show up as easy.
