i have an 8 foot bed and i would like to keep my metal floor, but it is rotted away, so i have to figure out a way to replace it. now what would you do?

get replacment panels and make a new floor?

buy an old bed that is in better shape?

buy a newer style bed and try and fit it on?

or force myself to get a wood conversion?

any comments are welcome, thanks for all of your help

i used the floor from a 77 chevy longbed and cut out panels to replace the rotten places. I got the bed for free, and cut it out with a plasma cutter and welded it right in. After painting, i put down a spray in bedliner and sprayed it on thick over my ground welds. It worked pretty well and didn't cost me anything.

If the rest of the bed is in good shape, I would recommend a used take-out floor panel. I know of a few guy's that sell them, but not up in your area. Maybe post a "want to buy" add on the parts board, and see what turns up! Myself, I've been accumulating the necessary parts to convert mine to wood from steel. Opposite goal, same struggle!!

yeah, mine has nice "drain holes" in it and I need to have it replaced too. Unfortunately I don't have a welder to just weld in patches.

my cross sills are shot and so is my floor, but everything else is in nice shape for what i want.

Ackattack- mine is all drain holes except for a few support spots, not much water or anything for that matter would stay in mine.
