How to shorten the mounting brackets on bench seat?

I did the search thing and alot of people have mentioned it but found no write ups or pics of what and how it was done so here goes. Has anyone one shortend the legs on the stock bech seat and if so how'd you do it how did it turn out and any pics would be appreciated. If you have a link to this somewhere where it has already been covered then that would be appreciated too. Thanks in advance.

hey im actually gonna do this tomorrow on my truck..cut the seat and shorten the steering column..im not that tall only 5'10 but i like to sit a lil lower and a lil further from the wheel..im just going to mark my line while the bench is in the truck on all the legs, and then pull it out cut x amount out and weld it back together. i can take some pics while im at it

well i went out there today and shortened the column, and it made me think that now i dont wanna lower the seat that much..i might be able to get a lil lower when i get it upholstered by just having them use a firmer thinner peice of foam on the seat and the back rest. the column helped with the space alot..

I put a 90'3 truck seat in my 65....I now sit in it instead of on it.....one of the better changes..imho

What is a 90'3 truck seat. What truck does that come out of. Does it have the 3 point seatbelts built into the seats?

I am thinking he meant to say 90's model truck seat. I have seen a number of those in trucks. I have one but it still is to tall for me or at least my belly. I need a tilt with the column pushed down and a shorter seat and maybe a smaller wheel on top of that. I'm 6'2 375 or so. That is the main reason for wanting power steering on the 64 "blue Bob" so I can put on a smaller wheel and I will probably add a tilt to it as well. Don't see many of those on C-60's. I will look at the seat frame tomorrow and see about cutting the stands . I think if there is room you could take some masking tape say 2 inches wide and use that as a guide on what to remove . Once the taped portion is out, then you can fit it back up and weld it back together.

Opps I meant to say 90's.....I also used a 80's camero steering wheel...gave me more belly room

I have a later model Chevy truck seat that fits well. The frame is fab'ed up.

I dont know if you can just cut some of the frame out and re-weld it? Do you have pics of your current seat frame?
